This is the perfect counter-point to "Looting Spiro Mounds".
Although the site is on the eastern edge of the continent, I
recommend the book as an example of how things COULD
be. Expert contributors have written a scholarly but readable
account of the on going excavation of this important late
prehistoric site. Each interprets the site from the viewpoint of
their field of study. Many sites of even greater significance
have been excavated in days...to all our sorrow. This relatively
small site has been in the process of excavation and
interpretation for decades!
